SPEAKER BAFFLE BENEFITS

When speakers produce sound, it creates vibration inside the hallow cavity of your door, dashboard or rear dash panel.Depending on the music your are listening, certain frequencies will cause something to vibrate inside your car whether it be loose screws or simply surface areas adjacent to a speaker, tweeter or subwoofer.

To avoid these vibrations, it is recommended to install speaker baffles when upgrading your car audio setup. For one, it holds the speakers in place more securely when installed on your doors and secondly, it prevents dirt from accumulating inside your speakers. In addition to dust protection, baffles protects the speakers from water intrusion and makes your speakers last longer. But the main function of baffles is to avoid the resonance produced by the vibration of your car's surface to transfer to your speaker cones. This will result in a more crisp and clear sound when you play your music. The physics behind this is similar to a music studio with sound absorbers installed on the its walls. The better absorption it has, the clearer the sound would be.

Online Car Stereo offers speakers baffles of various sizes. The more common ones are: 3, 4, 4x6, 5, 5.25, 6.5 and 6x9 inches. Boom Mat baffles are made of high quality and the company has invested in the latest 3D scanning and cutting technology to manufacture and cut the baffles precisely that has allowed a perfect fit to every speaker.

Checkout our inventory at WWW.ONLINECARSTEREO.COM and look for your appropriate size. 6.5" Baffles, 6x9 Baffles, 6 3/4 Baffles, 5 1/4 Baffles, 6x8 Baffles, 5x7 Baffles, 4" Baffles, and 4x6 Baffles,

BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY TRIVIA!

Thanksgiving Day is fast approaching and that also means that Black Friday and Cyber Monday is also around the corner. This year in particular will be a very different one from all the previous years we have done the two biggest shopping days of the year because of the pandemic.

But where (and when) exactly did the terms “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” come from?

Black Friday dates back to Philadelphia in the 1960s where newspapers in the state used the term to describe the massive frenzy of crowds at stores and the congestion of traffic that happens on the day after Thanksgiving. The crowd frenzy was paralleled after the original “Black Friday”, which was a stock market panic on September 24, 1869, where the price of gold collapsed due to then-President Ulysses Grant’s interference on the scheme of three investors: Jay Gould, James Fisk, and President Grant’s own brother-in-law, Abel Corbin.

Cyber Monday, however, is a much newer term that was coined by Ellen Davis of the National Retail Federation and Scott Silverman, and was used as a marketing term for the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States. It was created as a digital counterpart to Black Friday to encourage people to do online shopping and has rapidly become the biggest ecommerce event in the US, whereas Black Friday is more of a brick-and-mortar sale event.

However, with the pandemic happening right now, Black Friday will probably shift to a bigger online event than it was before rather than doing the traditional in-store sales retailers have done in previous years. So definitely watch out in the coming weeks for upcoming deals and bundles for Black Friday and Cyber Monday at onlinecarstereo.com and subscribe to our newsletter to receive weekly promotions and save tons of cash!

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR NEW HEAD UNIT

Staying at home means we can now work on our car audio projects that have been stagnant for a long time. You might have purchased a new Alpine ILX-W650 7” Apple Carplay / Android Auto receiver; Pioneer AVIC-5201NEX 6.2” in-dash navigation stereo or a Kenwood Excelon DNX996XR 6.8 high definition touch screen with Carplay and navigation control but don’t have the time to bring it to an installer or work on the install in your garage. Well, today is the best time to do that and we will walk you through on how you can install your brand-new head unit.

PARTS YOU NEED

First, you need to determine the parts you need that are compatible with your vehicle. Every vehicle has proprietary wirings to control volume, break lights, Bluetooth, antenna adaptors and even steering wheel controls. Different car makers also have their own dashboard designs. This will make sure that you’re your head unit will look seamless on your vehicle without any gaps or spaces. A brand called Metra Electronics is known for manufacturing thousands of wiring harnesses and dash kits that are compatible for different vehicles. You should be able to find out what parts you need once you enter the year; make; and model of your vehicle.

1) Car radios are held by fasteners and are often hidden for design purposes. To access these, you will need to locate the trim pieces close to the radio and will usually pop out with the use of a prying tool.

2) Pull the trims carefully and disconnect the wires which are usually connected with clips.

3) Once you remove the trims, you will be able to unscrew the other large trim pieces on the dashboard.

TIP: Remember to keep track of the screws and their location to easily reassemble them when you are done installing.

4) After disassembling the trims, you can now unscrew the aluminum bracket and pull the unit out and disconnect the wiring harness from the car and the radio.

5) Some aftermarket radios come with an aluminum sleeve. Use this to install the head unit. Otherwise, just use the old one or sometime the head unit does not need a sleeve at and will directly screw you the bracket.

6) The new head unit will come with a proprietary harness that connect to the radio with open colored-coded wires on the other end. The Metra wiring harness that you purchased compatible with your vehicle will also have color-coded open wires on one end. Securely connect these wires to the proprietary wires of the head unit according to color using electrical tape.

7) If for some reason, your vehicle does not have a compatible wiring harness, you will have to cut the wires on the dashboard and connect the proprietary wiring harness of the new head unit manually using crimp connectors.

8) Once done, before reassembling, test the new head unit if all controls are working properly.

9) Reassemble the dashboard and trimmings.

There you go! We hope that you will enjoy your newly installed stereo receiver. If you have any questions, you can contact our technical team Monday - Friday for expert advice.

HOW TO REPLACE YOUR CAR SPEAKER

One of the most basic upgrades you can do to your car is replacing your stock speakers. Being at home, you can now sit down and work on your project which has been sitting in the garage for a long time. With the right tools and a lot of patience, you can get that premium sound out of your car in no time.

This is also a great time to shop for new car speakers to install, so when you get back on the open road, you can listen like never before. If you’re search of some high-quality speakers, visit the OnlineCarStereo.com Vehicle Fit Guide to determine the correct car speakers for your installation. We have tons of different brands and designs of speakers at affordable prices.

Before we start, let’s set aside the right tools for the job.

  • Screw drivers (depending of the type of screw head your speakers have)
  • Panel tool
  • Cutter
  • Soldering tool (as needed)

1) To start, you will need to remove the screws, panels and grills from your car door or dashboard.

Tip: Using the panel tool can help to easily pry out the panels without breaking them.

2) Unscrew the actual speaker form the housing or bracket if there are any. Once you remove them, carefully disconnect the terminals from the speaker. This is now a good time to clean the terminals if oxidation has already formed; doing so will allow excellent conduction of the audio signal on your new speakers.

3) Take out the newly acquired speaker and connect it to the terminal. Remember that the larger terminal is “positive” and the smaller one is “negative”. You have the option to solder the terminal for better conduction and security.

4) Before putting the whole setup back in the door or dashboard, quickly test if they are producing sound and the speaker is working properly.

5) Finally, screw the speaker in place carefully but securely to avoid rattling when sound is produced.

There you go! We hope you enjoy the new sound of your DIY car speakers. Installation is generally straightforward, but if you still have any questions about installing car door speakers, contact our service team Monday-Friday for expert audio guidance.

BREATHE FRESH AND CLEAN AIR WHILE DRIVING

With the current crisis today, many of us working class are still going about our regular day from home to work. This exposes us to a lot of pollution while we’re on the road driving. In addition, our vehicles collect dust and particles overtime which also causes respiratory issues.

JVC just released an innovative car accessory that purifies and deodorizes your car quickly. The KS-GA100 uses a high-speed fan that absorbs dirty air from any direction. It utilized a high-performance HEPA filter that sucks in pollen, fine dusts and other fine inhalable particles 2.5 micrometers or smaller described as PM3.5. In return, it releases negative ions that deodorize unpleasant smells in your car. These include sweat after working out from the gym; cigarette or barbeque smoke from bars or restaurants, and even the smell of pets when they ride with you.

The KS-GA100 has a 2-speed control that is motion activated from above the purifier. Shake once to enter low speed mode, the shake again for high-speed. It sports a modern aluminum look that goes well with any car and fit perfectly in any cupholder size. The purifier is powered using USB with a DC 5V.
